Huh. I thought Valadao was going to win in a landslide. Maybe there's a backlash against the GOP's xenophobia in this district?

This is CA-21, CA-52 is the San Diego district with the Peters/DeMaio race.

This seat was always a rental, at worst Valadao should lose in 2016.

Odd, but then the Democrats have a much better candidate here than in 2012. Valadao should be fine going forward except in a wave situation, when all bets could be off.

GOP is on borrowed time in this district but it's not switching hands until 2016

Obama won it by 10 IIRC.

Still Valadao would be favoured for 2014. 2016 it should be a toss-up though if we net a decent candidate.

Renteria has the funding to at least come within single digits. The 2012 candidate had no money.

This wasn't the year for Dems to take this seat. But Valadao is the model for how the GOP should be operating nationwide.

This seat, along with Vidak and Cannella in the state Senate, are proof that the power of coattails (Brown) are overblown.
