Running Against Obama, Republicans Positioned for Midterm Sweep:
Most of the battleground Senate races are trending in the GOP's direction, while Democrats are playing defense in the House.

People are acting like its a huge deal that Democrats are loosing in reliably conservative states.

This isn't 2010, where Democrats in blue states like Illinios, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin lost.

Democrats are winning in blue states and roughly splitting the states that were competitive in 2012.  Virginia, Iowa, Colorado, New Hampshire, and North Carolina are 2012 battleground states with Senate races this year, and Democrats are on track to win 3 out of 5 of those races.

So yeah, election night will be painful for Democrats, but I'm not going to pretend that because we lost close races states like Alaska, Arkansas, and Kentucky, its a bad omen for the party.

I like how he mentions the polls for CO, but in the case of NC simply trots out some lame conventional wisdom (with no empirical data whatsoever) that Tillis has momentum and is putting Hagan on the defensive. Too cute.

Needless to say, I'm skeptical that the Rs will win more Senate seats this year than in generational banner GOP years like 1980, 1994, 2004 and 2010. Interesting how they seem to do well in years ending with a 0 or 4... Anyways, nine seats seems a bit high. I think 6 or 7 will be the number.
