Is this the right place to complain about Theodor W. Adorno's truly ridiculous degree of elitism for somebody who was supposedly a Marxist

Leszek Kołakowski made a similar point, saying in his review of Negative Dialectics that Adorno showed "massive contempt for the reader"

as for the term "cultural Marxism" itself, it's similar to "secular humanist" in that certain paranoid freaks turned a relatively obscure social movement/phenomenon into a catch-all epithet for anyone outside their own circle.
