http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/reagan-aide-calls-for-southern-secession

Cautioning that all his secession talk was purely "academic," MacKinnon suggested that South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida break away from the United States and form a new republic named "Reagan."

An odd choice of states...

What a weird collection of states to think would want to secede in the name of Ronald Reagan.

You can't say something so predictable and derivative and call it Academic.

Not so fast.  The oddball one is obviously Florida, but that's quite the collection of good Southern boys and pasty old farts that just love their Ronnie, isn't it?

Miss and Alabama are more delusional secession pride states than any of those three. To secede and be called Reagan? I would peg rural California, rural Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming as Ronnieland.

Thing is, obviously this guy wants to avoid the mistake made in 1860-1, where secession cut off the Mississippi River, thus giving the North an economic motive for invading.  So Mississippi has the misfortune of have to stay in Homostan to allow those who could secede to do so.  I guess Alabama also is being rejected from inclusion into Reaganstan so as to not interfere with steamboats on the Tennessee River.

I spent a week in rural Florida this past August visiting some family, and I cannot tell you how many pro-secession bumper stickers I saw in ultra-Republican Highlands County, Florida, where Romney won almost 61% of the vote, and hasn't been won by a Democratic Presidential candidate in any election that the Atlas has county data available for. I think I also saw one "Proud To Be White" sticker on the back of a Chevy Silverado in a Winn-Dixie parking lot.

I support any motion that involves Florida's secession.

Blue: Reaganstan
Green: Liberty Republic

People can then migrate to these areas so they won't be "oppressed." It can be just like when India and Pakistan were divided!

Washington State is nowhere near Virgina and Wyoming is nowhere near Pennsylvania.
