The story "broke" almost an hour ago, Bushie.

Updates from CNN, for those interested.

Only fifteen minutes from my home. Yikes.

EDIT: Apparently my brother-in-law's wife's brother teaches there. He's okay, though.

If everyone in that building had an AR-15, none of this would have happened.

And when is White America going to have a serious conversation about their culture of violence? If they're not rioting like animals at New Hampshire pumpkin festivals, they're listening to degenerate music like Foster The People.

According to Reuters, the shooter was Native American and this happened following a fight, and he opened fire on his friends.

I read that he was upset because a girl broke up with him. So he did what any logically thinking human would do...he shot up his school.

IndyTX doesn't care about things like facts.  He's shown that repeatedly.  If he happens to come back by and read this thread (less than a 50/50 shot, he likes to do drive bys) we'll get to see what he's REALLY good at.

We should petition for Dave to create a sub-board in USGD for these threads.

That creates a higher risk of copyright infringement. It'll be the same story posted over and over again.

Yes.  I hardly see J.J. around here anymore, and I'd like him to have a place he feels comfortable.

The cautionary tale is more closely related to the perils of herding minors into arbitrary age groups. The unreason and emotional-imbalance generated by insular monocultures is tearing the educational system apart. Slumping academic performance and persistent violence are staples of American schools. Guns, knives, metal detectors, social media, and clear backpacks are all props in the melodrama.

A decade ago, we only dealt with a half dozen school shootings per year, now its scores of school shootings every year. Gun ownership rates are not rising, but if you chart school shootings against monthly Facebook users, you find an alarming trend. Not saying its causal, but this is probably the onus for the social media study mentioned in another thread.

Yeah, I could understand why you would find a post like that disturbing. The easy solution is to modify the post so it looks like this:

Why are you so afraid?

If I wanted to troll, I would have tied it to Obama's election, particularly his reelection. Examining the impact of Facebook isn't controversial considering the penetration rates amongst younger Americans.
