Hughes, Wilson may be more progressive and populist,which are obvious pluses. But he's also a flaming racist, elitist, and given the Espionage Act...sorry but no.

This, especially considering (from a retrospective opinion) Wilson's second term was a complete f[inks]ing disaster. Cocked up his pre-War activity, coked up the war itself, cocked up the Treaty of Versailles and was completely incapacitated for the latter half.
