This cult of personality and the need to define a biography that goes along with it is the worst aspect of our democracy. It's even worse than all the PACs and secret money floating around. At least their ads are tenuously connected to relevant facts. Senators vote on bills and occasionally confirm judicial appointments and treaties. Why the Inks do people care about their families and their "in touch with people like me" baloney? It's all a real world argument for autocracy.
