I just realized that we have a spot open and I didn't notice, so here we go.

As introduced by Sen. Sam Spade:

Atlasian Currency Act

Section 1
The Government of Atlasia will establish a Mint in Nyman.

Section 2
The following people and images will be displayed on each bill or coin.

Coins:

$ 0.01 – Ernest and Constitution
$ 0.05 – Andrew Berger and Bald Eagle
$ 0.10 – Fritz and Forum Affairs Building
$ 0.25 – Nym90 and Region design

Bills:

$ 1.00 – PBrunsel and PBrunsel Memorial
$ 2.00 – Peter Bell and Atlasian Capitol
$ 5.00 – Gustaf and State Department Building
$ 10.00 – Nym90 and Atlasian Seal
$ 20.00 – John F. Kennedy and Kennedy Memorial
$ 50.00 – John Ford and Pentagon
$ 100.00 – KEmperor and Supreme Court Building

Section 3
The Mint will be under the control of the Secretary of the Treasury.

Section 4
The Senate will allocate appropriate funds to manage the Mint.

If someone wants to add people for that, I'm all ears.

Also, don't we already have funds allocated for Mints in the Budget we just passed?

I see no reason to establish a new one (unless we're closing others).

Also, how do we put the constitution on the back of a small coin?  The Statue of Liberty should also be on one of the coins in my oppinion.

I like what the toilet represents:

comfort, relief, persistance and determination

All fine qualities in any president

Personally, I think we should switch PBrunsel and Nym90.  Given that Washington is on the American $1 bill, it would make sense to have our first president on our $1 bill too.

The PBrunsel Memorial Toilet is funny, but it reminds me too much of the Caesar Augustus Memorial Sewer.

Ok, in my amendments, I would like to propose that we strike Clause 1, 3 and 4 from the bill.

Rationale: Clause 1: We already have a Mint setup with six main Mints in use in Atlasia.  I see no reason to add to that.  For a link, read here:

http://www.usmint.gov/about_the_mint/

Clause 3:  Is redundant.  The Secretary of the Treasury already has control of the Mint.  We set that up de facto when we approved the Preliminary budget.

Clause 4:  Is redundant.  The Senate, in approving the Preliminary Budget, already set up appropriate funds to manage the Mint.

As to Clause 2, this is my version of it, as follows.  I think currency et al, should only be given for Presidents, important Cabinet members, very important and influential Senators or very important citizens in general, if it is given at all. [changes in bold]:  Of course, as time changes, we can change the money this affects, obviously.

Section 1
The Federal Government authorizes the following people and images to be displayed on each bill or coin in the legal tender and currency printed by the Mint of Atlasia.

Coins:

$0.01 - (for Ernest) KEmperor and the Sculpture of Justice (back)
$0.05 - Gustaf (front) and the Statue of Liberty (back)
$0.10 – Fritz (front) and the Forum Affairs Building (back)
$0.25 - Nym90 (front) and the Regional Map of Atlasia (back)

(additions)
$0.50 - John F. Kennedy (front) and the Flag of Atlasia (we do have a flag right?) (back)
$1.00 - Demrepdan (front) and a drawing (artist's rendition) Constitution Hall (where the Constitution was signed, I presume) (back) (running out of ideas here)

Bills:

$1.00 - Nym90 (front) and the Atlasian Seal (back)
$2.00 – Peter Bell (front) and the Atlasian Capitol Building (back)
$5.00 - Gustaf (front) and the State Department Building (back)
$10.00 - PBrunsel (front) and the White House (back)
$20.00 – John F. Kennedy(front) and the Kennedy Memorial (back)
$50.00 – John Ford (front) and the Pentagon (back)
$100.00 – KEmperor (front) and the Supreme Court Building (back)

Oh, and btw, Gabu.  We have one more spot available on the floor for Debate, if you want to introduce it.

Only the Omnibus Criminal Law Bill and the Election Bill are on the floor awaiting Presidential Signature.

The Budget Amendment is still being voted on as well; I count that as it still being active.

I hereby open voting on the amendment to strike sections 1, 3, and 4, and to replace section 2 with the following:

Section 1
The Federal Government authorizes the following people and images to be displayed on each bill or coin in the legal tender and currency printed by the Mint of Atlasia.

Coins:

$0.01 - (for Ernest) KEmperor and the Sculpture of Justice (back)

$0.25 - Nym90 (front) and the Regional Map of Atlasia (back)

(additions)
$0.50 - John F. Kennedy (front) and the Flag of Atlasia (back)
$1.00 - Demrepdan (front) and a drawing (artist's rendition) Constitution Hall (where the Constitution was signed, I presume) (back) (running out of ideas here)

All senators in favor, vote "aye"; all against, vote "nay".

---

Aye.  That sounds good to me.

Although... should we have KEmperor on two pieces of currency?  He wasn't that influential. Wink  Not sure who we'd replace him with, though.  StevenNick, perhaps?

PS: Yes, Atlasia does have a flag.  Here it is:

Let it be noted that unlike Justice Ernest, not only do I have no objection to being put on money, I actually d object to the fact that I'm not on front and back of all the bills and coins in question.

I would suggest we scrap the $1 note and only have a $1 coin, and preferably do the same for $2 notes. Paper, quite frankly, wears out over time, and are easier to counterfeit then coins. It'd also avoid confusion over coins being the same values as notes.

In terms of the people on them...I dunno. People will come and leave, so I'd make it only Presidents. For example, you'd start with the $2 coin (if there was one) as Nym90, then a $1 as Gus, 50c as JFK, 25c as PBrunsel, 10c as TrueDemocrat, 5c as the next one, then 2c and 1c, although those last two coins aren'yt neccessary.

This post made little sense. I'll make more sense klater. I'm a little bit..affected.

It isn't practical to have only $1 coins.  Paper money is more user friendly I think.

I agree here with Ford.  If anything, I would get rid of the $1 coin.  Nowadays it just gets confused with the quarter.

I think the last main time that $1 coins were used in abundance were back in the old Eisenhower (1960-70s) days.  And those things were noticeably different than quarters, they weighed a ton and were very aggravating to carry around (one of the reasons why they went out of style).

If we're going to have a $1 coin without a corresponding bill, we should get rid of the penny, so that we can resize things downward.  But, I am really not in support of that personally.

2c coins haven't been around since the 1800s, hughento.  Don't know why we'd bring them back now.  Tongue

Well, then here would be my suggestion (switching the $0.01 and the $2.00 bill):

$0.01 - Peter Bell (front) and the Scales of Justice (i.e. Sculpture of Justice) (back)
$2.00 - StevenNick (front) and the Atlasian Capitol Building (back)

I also have a couple of more amendments to add, but I'll do that when we get done with this.

Canada hasn't had $1 bills for a long time, and has recently phased out the $2 bill as well in lieu of a $2 coin.  Both look quite different than any other coin, so they don't really get confused.

Not to say that that method is better than having $1 and $2 bills, but both work, really.
