On Thursday, Rand Paul gave the keynote speech at the annual dinner of the National Interest, a major foreign policy magazine from a realist perspective.  He generally endorsed a Weinberger doctrine approach, and also commented on drones, ISIS, Afghanistan, and Ukraine.

I was worried about how he would weather this shift back to foreign policy and how he would navigate it.

If he continues like this I think his chances are good and I think it is a direction that the GOP should strongly considering realligning to, "Defend the country and engage, but don't try and rebuild the world into a utopia".

Typical Paulite tactic - use the few reasonable positions they have to cover up the renaming bat***t ones.
