In 1940, former president Herbert Hoover was shortly considered as a compromise candidate. The scenario: Hoover is nominated by the Republicans and picks Wendell Willkie as his running mate. Does he perform better than Willikie against FDR or is the former president defeated in a ladslide?

Looks good; probalbly the PV would have been around 57%-40% under the moderate scenario. Just like in the 1932 election.
