GAworth, despite despite you aren't a Representative, I think that an explanation of the bill would be very appreciated. Smiley

Thank you Archduke. Currently our Healthcare Payroll Tax does not pay for the Healthcare portion of the budget. By increasing it to 1.5% from 1% we should be at or near the amount to pay for our regions healthcare.

At the surface, I don't see anything wrong with the bill. A small increase doesn't hurt anyone.

I would prefer that we could gain this new revenue from a source that is not a regressive tax such as the Healthcare Payroll Tax. Maybe an increase in the regional capital gains tax?

Anyone has an amendment or we can go with a final vote?

Despite GAworth not being a Representative, I'd like to know his opinion on my suggestion before in all likelihood putting forth an amendment.

This could probably use more discussion.

Sorry guys, I was away from the forum for the last few days. My whole reason for the bill is the fact that we have a tax that is suppose to pay for Healthcare and doesn't adequately fund it on it's own. Other revenue already covers this gap. My thought is, if we are going to have a tax to pay for something, then make sure it pays for it.

For some reason, I'm inclined to think that nobody minds this bill too much.

So... anyone has an amendment? Suggestions? Comments?
If not, I will open a final vote tomorrow.

I will vote against, don't like the idea of raising a regressive tax. If someone else has an amendment I'd surely consider it.
