Hey Forum!

I thought this would be an interesting exercise...

Your task is to draw the best possible state senate district (could be in any state) for the previous poster!  It should be an area that best epitomizes the poster's political ideology.

You can use Dave's Redistricting App to accomplish this.

Good luck!

EDIT - Its probably a good idea to call next while doing this, as drawing a district does represent an investment of one's time and energy.

For Del Tachi:

I'll give him a district in Hinds County:

I'm assuming the Dem parts of the county would be in VRA districts and Del Tachi gets whats left over. 55/44 McCain, but 41% black. Should be good for a Republican who can get crossover votes.

A while ago, we had a self-gerrymandering thread which might be helpful here!

For Miles, a 65% obama and 61% white district in New Orleans.  You may face challenge from you left, but if you are able to get Blacks to vote for you, you'll have no problem.

I'm putting JerryArkansas up near my native territory. This area has a history of fiscal conservatism and social liberalism. It is in Chicago's northwest suburbs. This district is very similar to Illinois' 51st state house district at present, which is currently represented by Ed Sullivan, Jr. He was one of only three Republicans in the IL House to vote for the same-sex marriage bill last year.

The district voted for Barack Obama 51-48% in 2008. It encompasses the towns of Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, Libertyville, Vernon Hills, Mundelein, Lake Zurich, Barrington, among others.
