It works for me, although I'd say, "their boss' reactions"
Some writers recommend adding an apostrophe+s for possessives, others recommend only the apostrophe. Some recommend the apostrophe+s for the unvoiced sibilant and only the apostrophe for the voiced sibilant. (e.g., Chambers' car and Hess's Law) I tend to use only the apostrophe in all cases, although whichever you choose you should be consistent throughout your manuscript. You could also avoid the problems by saying "reactions of the boss"
There are problems in that sentence, however, unrelated to the bit in red. The antecedents are all over the place and not clearly defined. It might cause confusion. I would not consider that to be A+ writing.
