By that logic Hitler would be a FF if he had never actually implemented the "camps."

So it's okay to support something horrible, as long as it doesn't succeed?

Obvious HP (Not a fan of concentration camps)

As I've pointed out constantly the only place where this charged phrase was used was in a Mises. org article which I'm sure is absolutely unbiased in portraying the actual views of liberal politicians.

Anyways, Massive FF-would have been a great President and probably the best man the Democratic Party ever nominated.

I doubt Rothbard would've just made up something like that out of thin air (why would he want to, anyway?). Say what you will about him, but he took pride in his scholarship.

Here is another source (skip to pg. 120).

FF: He's LBJ without the wiretapping, without the idiocies of Vietnam (even if he did end up forced to support LBJ on it), far more liberal, and probably the best of both of worlds, the personality of Jimmy Carter and the effectiveness of LBJ or Clinton.

Yeah clearly when I call a guy who has an enormous record on Civil Rights an FF, and say it's because I like Civil Rights, I clearly also mean I don't support Civil Rights for communists because he sponsored ONE CLAUSE that went absolutely nowhere. Stellar logic, but then I suppose you unpersoned me the moment I said maybe social democrats aren't all traitors who deserve to be raped and guillotined.

Of course this is a bad thing of his, but that does not make his other accomplishments bad, does it?

Erhm that just proves my point-if you go to the citation for that particular point, it takes you to a Mises.org article by the late Murray Rothbard. Having actually looked into this more with Deus Naturae's link, its clear Humphrey was extremely reluctant to vote for it and later regretted his support-incidentally a piece of legislation which all but 11 Senators opposed, so it wasn't as if Humphrey was alone in this regard. Contrast this with the support of True Leftists for Robespierre who not only let the Chepalier Law banning unions and the right to strike but also actually had the Hebertists sent to the guillotine. Of course that's not even considering Lenin...

Mung Beans, you seemed to imply that the claim was false.  I intended to show, regardless of my personal views of Humphrey, that it is pretty factual that HHH did support the things SWE claimed.  Sure, I admit I don't judge him on that alone (hell if the Rothbardists were alive back then they would be shaking with religious fervor to just shoot anybody with commie sympathies) and do acknowledge that practically everybody at the height of the second Red Scare era would've supported similar measures.  However, voting records are absolute fact, whether you like it or not.

There are plenty of other reasons to not like the man, especially as his post LBJ career shows.
