The threads I created and stickied were only to start a discussion about what to do on election night.

I think it's best this way, to have a thread for each of the close Senate races because they are the ones with the most traffic and people who are interested in just 1 or 2 states find it easier and it makes it easier to post and read the comments.

Of course, if you don't like my layout - you can PM Joe Republic and ask him to create his own version of results threads (I would delete mine then).

I just think that 1 or even 4 threads are not enough and makes following the races a "horror".

Imagine 50 people posting at the same time on 1 thread. That's 2 pages in one minute (full with posts about different races) or so and that's not readable. Better split it up in several state specific threads.

How about we group it by poll closing time and for the 8 o'clock hour, we could break it up into two threads.

You have quite the imagination.  I can't imagine that even as loquacious as we sometimes are that we'd get that sort of thruput for the midterms, and certainly not on a sustained basis. Remember, posters are still going to be limited by the 20 second rule.

As much as I appreciate Tender's initiative in making individual threads, I think this is the best solution:

Four in my opinion

1) House Races
2) Senate Races
3) Gubernatorial contests
4) Down ballot initiatives.

Of course, what pages do we put these on, the polling ones or the main pages ?

So, Joe Republic does not seem to object to my thread plan, which means we are going along with it ?

I might create an additional House Thread though.

Can't we have a poll or something? There've been lots of posters, including moderators, who've expressed dissatisfaction with the current scheme, and we have two days to make a final final decision.

Sure, you need to create the poll though, because you started this thread ... Wink

To have so many threads is inane and insane. Best to put it to a vote.

He doesn't?  I suggest you read this:

In any case, you probably should have checked with him before creating all those threads, and causing this uproar.  Tongue

Given the way election results play out, I tend to think just making a chat room(s) would be more logical than having people posting on a thread every 5 seconds.
