Calling the people you represent racist and sexist is worse than what Braley said about Farmers. Pretty sure Landrieu knows this is her swan song, so she is just flinging poo now. Good riddance.

Racial polarization are eroding southern politics. What she says isn't a real controversy.

I'm sure similar things are happening in Louisiana.

Thid is such a non-story. Of course blacks have struggled in the south.

As much as I love my state, remember, less than 25 years ago, David Duke was getting near 60% of the white vote.

And as for this 'sexism,' the Louisiana legislature has one of the lowest shares of women of any state chamber.

Even if the Republican slant on her words were an accurate quotation, she still would have been correct. Had hypothetical President John Edwards enacted all of Obama's same policies, he would be much more popular across the South today. Or actual president Bill Clinton.

She may be entirely correct, but none of this is going to help her get re-elected.  Which makes me wonder if she is beginning to give up hope.  Like Sen. Rockefeller's earlier speech on coal a few years ago, this sounds more like a politician acknowledging a likely defeat than someone anticipating another six years in the Senate.

It sounds like she is already preparing for that possibility.  But I don't see how this is controversial, she is just being frank (and also factually accurate, which is impressive coming from a politician but should not be).

Bold. But, probably, counterproductive from pure electoral point of view.

Her fate may be sealed, but at least she can be proud to leave the Senate with her head held high (unlike A.L.G.).

I personally believe that she's not going to end up winning reelection, but if that ends up being true, this certainly isn't going to be what did it.

One of two Senators in Louisiana is a woman.

The Governor is the son of Indian immigrants. His predecessor was a woman.

Those filthy sexist racists!

I am not sure if pulling the race and war on women cards out is going to help her more than it's going to hurt her.

Nuanced or not, couched in politically correct words or not, she likely offended a good number of Louisiana voters.

It certainly won't help her avoid the inevitable runoff, so it was probably better left not said at this point.

Clearly Pryor's white maleness is making all the difference for him in neighboring Arkansas.
