I actually think Begich pulls this out. Alaska loves its incumbents and his ground game in the bush is unprecedented.

With Kentucky, South Dakota, Arkansas essentially gone, Colorado probably gone, and Louisiana and Georgia seemingly destined for runoffs, it would seem the Democrats' only real chance at holding the Senate at this point is through Iowa, Alaska, and Kansas.

If anything, Lisa Murkowski proves how much Alaska loves their incumbents - winning a write in campaign to the US Senate (the second ever, in any state) with a name so difficult to spell!

You forgot Montana. Wink

But yeah, this is essentially it. The Democrats need to sweep all three races to keep the Senate. If they take only 2 of 3, well, Landreiu and (especially) Nunn will have a tough row to hoe in a runoff in the first place, but if it's an even more nationalized race where those races determine control of the Senate, fuhgetaboutit. And all that assumes Orman will formally throw his lot in with the Democrats before the runoff.

Actually, the Dems winning all three races Tuesday would help their runoff odds in LA considerably. Though Perdue is probably safe regardless.

Alaska seems to love their incumbents in general elections. Both Democratic US Senators from Alaska ended up losing because of a primary. What was odd about Mike Gravel's primary of Ernest Gruening, is that the guy who would publish the Pentagon papers in the official Senate record primaried one of only 2 Senators (and the only Democrat) to vote against the Vietnam war.
