The only thing I disagree with is a long, drawn out primary. Priebus said he wouldn't allow it. he wants the nominee decided by the beginning of March.

And what precisely is he going to do to stop it?

Exactly, I don't see how he stops a long primary.

Because his wife is saying so? I thought he made his own decisions. Just like Jeb's mother is not gonna persuade him not to run. Tongue Besides, Ann hasn't been as unequivocal as people and the media claim. From one interview I saw of her, she was pretty nuanced actually. But that of course doesn't make newspaper headlines, as it isn't sensational enough.

Both the DNC and RNC chairs aren't much more than figureheads.  They can steer the nomination rules a little, as Priebus has done, but it's not like he can impose such changes in a dictatorial manner.  And in any case, the nomination selection rules are set now, and while they'll probably result in the primaries *starting* a bit later, there's nothing there that'll encourage it to end any more quickly than normal.

And no, Priebus can't get candidates to drop out and cut deals with each other over the VP slot.  He has no leverage to get them to do any such thing.

Sheldon Adelson, among others, has more power over how long the nomination fight will last than Priebus does.

It looks like Scott Walker is now effectively your 2016 presidential nominee.

Walker seems like the obvious choice now.

Walker's odds which would have been killed by a loss is likely the favorite now. But I'd argue Ted Cruz's stock rose tonight too.  He's more conservative than Walker and I bet can give Walker a run for his money in Iowa. Iowan Republicans nominated as an extreme conservative as they could and successfully flipped a state that Romney and McCain had lost in. To go with Steve King in the House.

Now he's survived, I'm thinking Walker. This year was pretty good for fusionists (to steal a term of RB) - the likes of Sasse, Cotton, Gardner and even Ernst had lots of Tea Party and establishment support. I feel Walker is the only candidate that can effectively unite both wings in a primary. The only risk is whether he gets squeezed too early, which could easily happen.

But seriously I want some Ted Cruz and Ben Carson action in the primaries at least

Pence or Walker. Pence is more conservative and is a tough debator.

Who are all the jokers voting for Paul?

I'm guessing it will be Walker, Bush, or Romney.

Just throwing this out there but Brian Sandoval just won re-election with over 70% of the vote.  In Nevada.

Would never make it through the primary.

True.  Isn't he like pro-choice or something?

Why not Pence? A Pence-Walker ticket could be a good choice for the country.

Yes, he is. I like Sandoval, but there's is no way a pro-choice Republican is making it through the primaries.
