I think that Parnell will squeak out a narrow victory when the 24k+ absentee and other votes are counted.  I expect the absentees will favor him and have a Repbulcian bias.  Those out of the state were less likely to be aware of the "scandal" that I got wind of.  Also, with no Democratic candidate, some Democrats might not be inclined to vote for the independent.

The margin is 60% closer than the Senate race, so perhaps this will be the race that flips, not the Begich - Sullivan contest.

Interesting that despite the republicans campaigning on the economy and how crist was to blame for the jobs lost during the housing crash.

If the race was solely decided by voters voting on the economy as their top issue. Crist had a 1% margin over scott.

What killed him were the votes for those who said illegal immigration and foreign policy was their top issue.....

Perhaps if Obama acted much more on ISIS and border security would crist had won?

Here are partisan swing and trend maps for Maine 2012 Presidential to 2014 Gubernatorial.  (Cutler obtained between 7 and 10% in every county, so that introduces a minor variation).

The smallest swings toward the GOP in Maine were in the North/East parts of Michaud's district (and also in in Portland), but the greatest swings toward the GOP were also in Michaud's district - in the West.

Oregon legislature update: SD15 has been called for the Democrat giving the party an 18-12 majority in the Oregon state senate. Those two extra votes (was 16D-14R previously) should be able to overcome Betsy Johnson.

Is Healey from District 68/69? (BTW, I wish i knew he was a libertarianish candidate before the election rather than a squishy moderate like his partisan affliation suggests)

He's from Warren, which is split between districts 67 and 68. Not sure which precinct he resides in.

New Alaska numbers:

Walker 112,263 (47.80%) (+3,019)
Parnell 109,244 (46.51%)

New batch was
Parnell 5,014 (48.56%) (+146)
Walker 4,868 (47.14%)

That kind of split should be enough for Walker to hang on.

Yeah, I'm really surprised Jones didn't pull that one out. Idaho schools are a well-known disaster zone.

I feel like it's Five Nights at Freddy's and we're on the verge of simultaneously hitting 6AM AND running out of power.

Ugh, California sucks at counting votes.

Orange County Registrar just finished counting votes and will certify results next week. Some interesting takeaways from the county:

The reliably conservative Orange County Register reports on the underlying shifts in OC politics. Although it might not show from who was elected to office this year, the approval of Prop 47 (reducing nonviolent drug prison sentences) 53-47 was significant in indicating the county is no longer the social conservatopia it once was.

There weren't really any other surprising results, except in the city of Garden Grove, where seven term incumbent mayor Bruce Broadwater was defeated by 15 votes.

Oh, and safe and sane fireworks were approved by voters in Huntington Beach. I only care because the Fourth of July block party I go to every year is in Huntington Beach, so win!

This may a bit macabre, but I can't deny that's it's hilarious that Kashkari only won ONE county in all of California.

In hindsight this comment was clearly based on inaccurate information (I even saw a map of IL that showed Rauner sweeping everywhere including Cook), but now I'm curious to know which single county Kashkari had apparently won.  Smiley

Wait, Rauner didn't sweep everything but Cook?  According to the Atlas he did.
