Not sure. Both of them are the most prolific US Dollar manipulators on the planet. They both hold over $1T USD in T-bills as part of their foreign exchange reserves, and they both exploit the United States as a retailer who exists solely to help them achieve their mercantile channel-stuffing agenda.

In their defense, they have provided the US with seemingly limitless supplies of cheap credit, which we have promptly wasted by building a giant asset bubble, and then blowing the rest on a tepid recovery effort.

At least the Japanese have some semblance of human rights.

Yeah, I was about to post something about how I heard how Japanese men buy certain... "items" out of vending machines as if they were Frito's. That said, I still must go with Japan. This is why I hate other countries.

China have every bit as long and "proud" tradition of child marriage and prostitution as Japan have.

As for me Japan win due to the fact that they're a liberal democracy (or at least as close as we come to one in east Asia).

Narrowly to Japan, both have very interesting cultures and histories, but at the moment China is very lacking in human rights.

Both pretty bad politically, but Japan less so. Culturally, I'll go with Japan since I loved Dragon Ball Z as a kid and I used to make a decent amount of money buying and selling Yugioh cards. Plus I watch hentai on occasion.

If we're going solely by sociopolitical variables, then Japan by far.
