If Canada becomes independent, then I want an independent North-East!

Is Canada legally part of Atlasia or not?
We can vote and serve in office but aren't governed by Atlasian law. Call it representation without taxation.

I don't have strong feelings one way or another over whether Canada should be involved in atlasia, but seeing as you can legally register there we have to include it in the Electoral Reform amendment. This is not an example of atlasian imperialism and it seems kind of odd to oppose the amendment over this.

Could we at least include some more flexible wording? "Other territories" or something?

Canada isn't our territory, it's just that atlasians living in Canada can vote in our elections. It's no different to, say, the French Government having a bit in their law saying the french citizens residing in the UK may not be split into multiple seats.

Yes, but this is the Constitution.

Atlasians may reside abroad in Canada and enjoy voting privileges while living there. For regional elections, each province is "associated" (via "limited jurisdictional authority") with one of the five regions and the voters residing in each province are able to cast ballots in regional elections, too. This is from the Atlasian-Canadian Common Market Agreement. Canada is still a separate nation.

The people who are whining about this seem to fail to understand that it is the equivalent of an enhanced NAFTA with provisions that allow expats to vote in our elections. Considering that IRL Americans can vote in our elections from anywhere in the world...
