With the GOP in charge of the senate, what happens now?

Will Obama be impeached?

Will the Government shutdown?

Will we default on our debt?

Nothing. Obama can use the power of an executive order, but I think it would be best for the Democrats long term interests to just wait out the next two years until President Clinton and the Democratic Senate (I know I have been a dick tonight, but I know that the Republican Majority doesn't survive 2016...) can finish off the job.

I'd advise Obama to give up on immigration reform and just keep stalling GOP attempts to repeal Obamacare. At the end of the day, his legacy will be healthcare and he should fight hard to keep that victory instead of bowing to moderate heroism.

It'd be pretty funny if Obama decided to troll the GOP and enacted executive amnesty tomorrow (or anytime shortly after the election).

The same thing that has happened since Jan 2011, nothing. The biggest complication is that if Ruth Bader Ginsburg should retire, a replacement's confirmation becomes much more difficult. I wouldn't be surprised to see the new Republican majority end or severely limit the minority's ability to filibuster also.

Congratulations America on electing even more whackjobs. You get what you vote for. Enjoy two years of pure insanity, and remember, it's all your fault. The crazy train has just arrived, all aboard!

You're a terrible person.

EDIT: There used to be profanity here. I decided to edit this post to remove it, but it still appears in one of the comment chains below. Mods, dole out death points if you want. I really don't care at this moment.

Some might say the same about, say, Kay Hagan, Mark Udall, Mark Pryor, Charlie Crist, and a few others.

I know some might. What's your point?

I'd never treat you like krazen, so all I'll say is this.

I'm assuming you voted for Scott?

If so, you've made a terrible life decision, and I hope you grow out of it.

If these horrible people got 40% of the vote tonight?

In hindsight, I could have been elected governor of Pennsylvania today. I guess I should have run.

Two years?

The GOP is expected to net gain NINE seats. The GOP could defiantly retain the Senate after the 2016 Elections.
Eh, don't be too sure. Wisconsin, Illinois, NH, etc, are all prime pickups for the Democrats. Hell, even the FL Dems might be able to get their sh**t in order and take out Rubio. Doubt it though.

You're not making any sense. That's unusual for you. Usually you wear on your sleeve exactly what kind of reprobate the forum has to deal with in your person.

Well, I merely noted that plenty of alleged 'terrible people' have been elected to political office in this nation, even if some fellows from Massachusetts feel otherwise. Richard Scott 'Voldemort' is assuredly not a particularly nice or honest fellow, but at least he bestowed prosperity on Florida. I suppose the people are grateful.

Surely. Your own state has elected a very scary female that chills my bones.

I myself even contemplated voting for a genuine terrible fellow this morning.. Then he threatened to increase my income tax! How horrible!

Impeachment; If they don't start this process in January 2014, than John Boehner and his fellow Congressional Republicans are admitting that Obama was a "legitimate President"

Many bipartisan bills are sitting around, like Keystone XL, tax reform (Baucus' baby), Social Security and Medicare reform (Simpson Bowles), and bipartisan Obamacare reform (eliminating medical device tax). Those bills will finally make it to the oval office.

Disagree, even if they get through the Senate, they'll likely die in the (even more conservative) House.

Wow, that really was a bloodbath, wasn't it?

Well, logic, if that had any play in the process, would seem to force both sides to want at least some legislative victories to set up their 2016 national candidates, so maybe some horse-trading here and there will happen on some issues accompanied by a whole lot of mutual recrimination and stonewalling on big stuff.

But, if political posturing has its by-now customary way, instead of logic, we'll see several more rounds of bills repealing Obamacare, authorizing two or three more lawsuits against Obama in lieu of impeachment, more investigations, two more budget negotiations crises, and a long slew of vetoes and executive actions.  You know, the usual good use of taxpayer money and the public trust.

I expect the latter.
