I like Harry Reid, nothing wrong with him staying on.

What about Nancy Pelosi? Both her and Reid should resign soon. After January, at least.

Reid should definitely move on after this.

Durbin significantly underperformed this time around.

So, it's already clear Reid and McConnell are going to swap their positions as Majority and Minority Leaders.

By virtue of seniority, Orrin Hatch will become PPT, with Pat Leahy relegated to purely honorary post of "PPT emeritus".

How about someone who's not Reid, Shumer or Durbin?

Reid was a very effective Minority Leader from 2005 to 2007, even with smaller caucus than it's going to be now. I'd rather stick with him for the next two years (given he might very well retire in 2016) than appoint someone else.

I believe the "next in line" would be Patty Murray.

I'll support Reid as long as Chuck Schumer is the most likely alternative.

If Patty Murray made any traction, I'd support her in a heart beat. She actually gets stuff done, is able to put on a likable face, and is a good strategist (She was in charge of the DSCC in 2012, an election that looks like a miracle considering what we had today)

Reid turns 75 next month, and so will be 77 when this next Congress's term ends.  Does that make him the oldest Senate Minority Leader of all time?  How long can he possibly keep this up?

You must be joking, right? After THAT ass whooping?

If I were a Democrat, I'd push for a red/purple state Dem and/or a moderate personally, like Ben Nelson or John Tester. I think I trust Schumer and Durbin LESS than I trust Reid.

Sharron Angle might as well have won considering some of the people who won last night. Get rid of this sorry piece of trash.

I imagine Reid will stay on as Minority/Majority leader until at least 2018, if he wins his senate race next cycle (he is running).

So when 2016 rolls around we will likely see Reid and Pelosi still as Democratic leaders in Congress with Hillary as the Democratic nominee. Same old.
