I remember hearing about it in 2010, when Shumlin also fell below 50%, so that's why I knew.

VT was the closest thing to a solid south operation in the north when it was a Republicans only, Dems need not apply place.

Jim Douglas was confirmed by the legislature in 2002, they generally have gone with the one who was leading the popular vote regardless of party.

I knew. It was an issue in 2000 when it looked like the backlash against Civil Unions could have kept Dean under 50%.

How times have changed that civil unions in Vermont were not so long ago very controversial.

Civil unions were controversial in Ontario when Rae tried it in the 1990s but it got rebuffed by the Libs and some of his own caucus. I'd say Canada was ahead of even VT on same-sex marriage.
