Great! I was looking for something like this earlier.

CT now has a tied Senate? Never saw that coming...

edit: seems as though it's not complete

A lot of undecided races in the remaining grey politically blue states. And the GOP numbers in the states they already hold are unprecedented. Hopefully they govern more responsibly than they have before but I doubt it.

Not yet, it's updated as results come in. It is mostly complete atm, however.

CT Senate will be very close thought!

The Republicans now control more legislative chambers than ever (or at least since WWII). Even leaving the 2010 record in the dust!

Some of this is incorrect. VA, WV, PA, MO, NH, MT should all be red.

It's basing it on governors too, I believe.

That's correct, IL, MD and MA also show as divided because of their Govs-elect.

Also, MA and IL Dems remain veto-proof, so shouldn't those states stay blue rather than grey?  Amazingly, the MD GOP can now sustain Hogan vetoes in the lower house!

Missouri and West Virginia are basically under complete GOP control since they can override vetos.  MA (and maybe IL, IDK) is essentially under complete Democratic control for the same reason.

Arkansas House: Republicans 51-48 --> 64-36
West Virginia Senate: Democrats 24-10 --> Republicans 18-16
West Virginia House: Democrats 53-47 --> Republicans 62-33
Minnesota House: 73-61 Democrats --> 72-62 Republicans
New Hampshire House: 213-173 Democrats --> 238-158 Republicans
Nevada House: 26-15 Democrats --> 27-15 Republicans

Damn!!

Wow, Nevada Republicans have a nearly 2/3 advantage in the House? I knew they picked it up, but the margin surprises me.

Democrats surrendered in Nevada. It was a Red Wedding in every race.

Republican control of the West Virginia legislature is a first since the early 1930s, I believe.  I wonder which remaining Democratic legislature has been Democratic the longest.

Probably the Kentucky House, but I'm not positive.

Have Republicans ever won both houses in Maryland?  I doubt it.

We can probably assume they haven't, but there is no data that goes back beyond 2007.

Unless someone has another source, that is...

Maryland House of Delegates history:

The GOP hasn't controlled the MD Senate since the 1890s and hasn't controlled the MD House since the 1910s.

Looking at that chart and trying to infer it from other results, they probably managed to in the mid-1890s (considering that 1894 was a massive Republican landslide where they won all the Congressional seats in Maryland, as well as other statewide offices). Other possibilities include brief periods in the 1920s or 1950s.

The GOP hasn't controlled the MD Senate since the 1890s and hasn't controlled the MD House since the 1910s.

Thank you.  So it must be Maryland (I'm assuming that the GOP controlled the Massachusetts and Rhode Island legislatures at least until the 1930s).

Kind of amazing how consistently Democratic MD has been. At the Presidential level, there's only a few been a few times it had a GOP PVI, and only a couple of points at that.

 Does it have a lot to do with it being borderline "Southern" and "Northeastern", so it firstly had some "Solid South" advantages, and later it's had some Northeastern advantages?

True, it is its border state legacy.  Recall it remained in the Union during the Civil War only because it was occupied by Federal troops.  After the war, it was solidly Democratic until the depression of 1893.    Since then, it has only gone Republican in strong GOP years.  Note that even with Agnew as the VP nominee in 1968, it went for Humphrey.  http://www.rbt48.com/weather/Presidential_Elections/Maryland_pv.pdf
