The only mid-term election I've voted in that wasn't terrible...and had the added benefit of not just being not terrible but pretty glorious. Plus the election I was most into and consumed in ever in my lifetime, and a true reason to celebrate. Will always hold a special place in my heart.

If you're willing to give a Republican President 2 terms, it can happen again in 2022. But I think you'd rather have the Presidency.

Indeed. It's kind of rough realizing I probably won't get an election that great again without a terrible Republican President. I can at least hope for another 2012 in two years though.

Obviously a Freedom Election. Proves that this year's results are not some sort of statistical anomaly.

Literally the only worthwhile midterm in the last 25 years.

Great, but 2008 was so much better.  What an amazing moment in Jan. 2009 when Obama took office with a majority in both houses of Congress.  In retrospect, we got a lot done in those 2 years, before the idiocy of the American people reared its head in 2010.

2. 2012
3. 2006
----------- FF/HP Line
4. 2000
5. 2010
6. 2014

Looking like even more of a complete thrashing in retrospect.

I found 2006 more exciting, but mostly for personal reasons I know wouldn't apply to everyone else. And that wonderful Campaigns and Elections class I was taking at the time and the people I was hanging out with in College Democrats. 2008 had a lot of other stuff going on that was also exciting but unrelated to the election. But both are definitely the highlights of my elections. Objectively I'll admit 2008 was better. In fact: https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=196409.0

Part of the reason this one sticks out so well to me and perhaps even more than 2008 is I have never seen a crowd celebrate so much over an election result (and possibly never celebrate so much period) than when the MN-1 race was called for Walz. It was over 5 minutes of screaming and pure celebration and people were literally in tears. Even both of Obama's victories didn't have quite the same effect because we already knew well in advance it was going to happen, though the defeat of the gay marriage amendment in 2012 was quite up there as well.

I was still very emotionally invested in the Democrats back then.  I remember receiving a phone call from my father, after first period, so about 820AM Eastern, that Tester had pulled away from Burns and was likely to win.

there was a Jesus on a white horse feeling I had about things back then -- the highest moments of the 2006 MLB season, Mets winning the NLDS while the Yankees go from sure-fire World Series favorite to eliminated in little more than 48 hours, Mets sweeping the Dodgers on the same night, both games watched with my father.  a therapist would say something about that, now 3.5 months since I've seen him despite living just 3 miles apart.. oh, but I'll just wait it out

As much as I loved 2006 (and bringing us Speaker Pelosi), 2008 was just that much better when we really built up the majorities in Congress (257-178 in the House and 60-40 in the Senate) and took the Presidency back. It's so painful to look at a map like this now:

Freedom election. In fact so far it's the only good midterm election of the 21st century.
