I won't criticise him if he does caucus with the GOP. He's an elected independent who's beholden to neither of the parties. That being said, if I were him I'd stick with the Democrats to avoid becoming associated with the extremist GOP.

I actually imagine that Mitch McConnell would really like him on the GOP side, precisely because of the radicalism of some of the Pub Senators. Sasse, Cruz, et al have the potential to cause enormous problems for McConnell and having a centrist in the Collins mold would be very helpful for some of the close votes that will inevitably come up.

LOL, when you have 51 whackjob Senators, what does it matter if there's some moderates too?

King announces he's staying Democrat.

Thank Jesus. We may actually be able to retake the Senate in 2016.

Democrats may have been able to retake the Senate in 2016 even without King... which is probably why he made the decision that he did.

Come come now the election's over, no need to be an ideological hack for at least a few months Smiley

I honestly don't get this guy's appeal at all.  Can someone from Maine or New England please explain why he is so popular?
Maine voters wants their elected officials to embarrass their state as much as possible. (See: King, Collins, Le Page)

Could I ask when Sen King is next up for election?

Okay, maybe Mike Johnson is a competent parliamentarian.

So basically he was being an attention whore? That's what I got out of this announcement. Honestly, even if I switched parties, I doubt I'd make a press conference over it.

Except Angus King to call a press conference every week for the next two years, announcing at each one his decision to remain in the Democratic caucus.

I quickly saw he said that 'it was good for Maine to have a senator from each side' or whatever. What a useless Moderate Hero.
