Steven Beshear is term-limited next year.
Would you recommend her to run for governor?
Will she feel like campaigning anyway one year after her landslide loss?
Would she even have a chance in the primary, let alone in the general election?

No. Democrats can no longer compete in Kentucky, she should save the donors' money.

I'm thinking the same thing. Conway might just decide to step aside and let Grimes be the nominee.

Grimes is the state's most popular public official now.

Considering that Beshear became Governor after losing to McConnell, I think Grimes has a good chance. Democrats did hold the Kentucky House, so there is a good chance that they can still compete at the state level.

The Kentucky GOP also isn't doing themselves any favors by blocking the minimum wage increase and suing the public library.

Grimes favorability is down 10 because of that McConnell race, I don't think she'd be a good gubernatorial candidate.

At least she can't be linked to Obama in a gubernatorial race. That would definitively help her. Plus her name recognition has jumped up.

Conway seems stronger. He doesn't have the negatives, and his loss was not as embarrassing.

I don't really like Conway that much. At all. But I'd still vote for him over any Republican.

Conway has done a few good things as Attorney General, but he complains over stupid stuff.

Democrats aren't winning the Kentucky governor's race next year, let's just get that straight. All the statewide office holders will also be defeated.

Probably an excellent candidate. She'd likely improve on her showing this year and only lose by ten points.

What do you think Conway could manage against a Generic Republican?

*Loses to guy who has <40% approval rating in >60% Romney state by 15 points*

Clearly a great choice for Governor.

We're never again winning a statewide election in this state. Can we stop discussing it?

She will run for re-election and probably win hopefully... but running for Senate was a grave mistake for her.

Is she term-limited as Secretary of State?

I think the limit is 2 consecutive terms, so she can run in 2015.

I don't think there is a limit on nonconsecutive terms, but I'm not sure.

Yeah, she needs time to recover from the drubbing she just took. Hopefully she'll end up following in the footsteps of Steve Beshear rather than Martha Coakley.

Let's all bear in mind: Jack Conway has already lost a U.S. Senate race, too...
