The United States political system is archaic and reactionary. It is antidemocratic by design and that fact becomes more and more evident with each passing year. At the very least, things like the Senate filibuster, the electoral college, and the cap on the size of the House of Representatives need to be repealed. Ideally, the Constitution that was installed during the Coup of 1788-89 by the merchants, creditors, and slaveowners needs to be burnt and a new constitutional convention called that would produce a document that would transfer power directly to the working masses.
