Thanks, Miles! Appalachia is extremely saddening. Huge losses there without any new strongholds in those states to compensate.

Suggestions:
Barrett vs Burke
Looking at the effect of union-busting.

Peters vs Obama
Franken vs Obama
Wolf vs Obama
Looking at how democrats who are mostly as liberal as Obama or more overperformed in rural areas and how much of Obama's losses in working-class areas can be recovered.

Brown (CA) vs Obama
Just because.

I would suggest The Turtle vs Aqua Buddha but that would be a depressing map.
Also, a town swing map of NH from '08 to '14 for Shaheen would be cool, if only for the fact that the rural-urban divide reversed there (based on county swing maps) unlike the rest of the country. Maybe being a carpetbagger helped Brown in the suburbs!

^ I think for NH, we get Dave (or maybe Homely) to do town maps of New England states; they usually do the swing/trend maps as well.

I'll work on everything else, though Smiley

By Barrett I mean the recall, otherwise it would just be the swing map.

Would it be possible to do Walker vs Thompson?  It would be interesting to see the difference between a winning GOP coalition in Wisconsin and a losing one.

Sorry, I kinda forgot about this haha

I still haven't found a county-level data set for the WI election in a format thats Excel-friendly. Once Dave gets data uploaded, I'll look at it then.

^ Good!

Burke 14 (red) vs Barrett 10 (blue)

Burke 14 (red) vs Barrett 12 (blue)

Walker 14 improvement on Thompson 12

I was expecting the first two maps to be more similar.

Dane was the only county where Walker did worse than Thompson.

Could you perhaps make a Merkley vs Kitzhaber one?

^ Sure. Merkley did better in every county:

Also, on a related note, (someone else may have posted this already) but I did a similar map of Measure 91 a few weeks ago.

Nunn (red) and Cleland (blue) were within a point of eachother:

If there were a few more red counties in the GA-02 area and Cobb/Gwinett counties were bluer, it would look almost like a typical Dem vs Rep map in GA.
