Just like the republican one. For obvious reasons, I've eliminated Hillary and Biden - this is about predicting the nominee from the wide open field that will arrive if the two big names don't run.

If Hillary doesn't run, I think the nomination is between Biden and Kirsten Gilibrand.

Gilibrand is a media savvy Senator who has become a voice on progressive issues. She seems to be doing more to get her name out there than many of her contemporaries in Congress. The party wants to nominate its first woman, and has a tendency to back younger statewide officeholders (JFK, McGovern, Clinton, Obama.)

Without Biden and with Warren seemingly uninterested, there isn't an obvious alternative.

Biden is the frontrunner, but he flops, and Warren or Gillibrand picks it up. The Dems have a super thin bench.

The Minnesota Two (Al Franken or Amy Klobuchar) or Gillibrand would have the media,...but I could see Schweitzer pulling off a Jimmy Carter and coming in from behind.

Some of these people would never run, and some would have absolutely zero chance (Cuomo, Manchin, LOL).  It could be one of the more obscure ones, and we'd have to find out more about them first.

I think Gillibrand would be the natural choice. The problem being that Cuomo would also likely run and I'm not sure if he would preempt her in this scenario. Barring that, maybe Schweitzer or Warren?

Warren or Sanders would have a real shot at that point.  there is a romantic impulse that can run wild in Dem primaries, in the absence of a celebrity, big-money candidate that can beat it back with brute force.

Toss-up between Gillibrand and Warren (if they run) IMO. Even in a field containing Uncle Joe - he's a lightweight.

Failing that, I have NFI.

What is with this place? There are a lot of interesting things to talk about in the wake of Tuesday- like how Walker being re-elected, and the GOP winning the senate affect 2016… why are people starting threads pretending Brian Sandoval running for president or Hillary not running are realistic possibilities? Also, who cares whether Martin O'Malley is pretty or not. What is wrong with you people?

Should Gillibrand run, she'd win in this scenario.

Cory Booker, Amy Klobuchar, Kirsten Gillibrand, in that order.

Oh, I forgot about Warren.

I voted for Warren, because she would be the worst candidate for the Democratic Party. But I wonder why so many of you, forum Democrats support one of the most conservative candidates, Kirsten Gillibrand.

Could it be because she is the most electable of all other candidates?

I'd say Elizabeth Warren barely ahead of Gillibrand and with Mark Warner and Julian Castro fighting it out for the third position. Probably Castro will have more enthusiastic supporters and beat Warner in the end. Anyways, this 2016 field is clearly a ladies' fight.

She's so conservative in fact that she's made a huge buzz about gender discrimination. Lol. So so  very very conservative.

If Clinton and Warren both run, Warren will win.

Based on what?

Just as a hypothetical, you mean? Doesn't everyone realize Hillary is running at this point?
