Congrats to Rand Paul for selling out and becoming a pawn of Mitch McConnell and the establishment in exchange for political favors.  He doesn't deserve all the credit, though. Papa Ron's brilliant use his of debate time and money to attack Perry and Santorum and not even look Romney in the eye was certainly also given consideration.

Yes. Just like I said 2 years ago and I think you agreed. Ron Paul entire campaign was making sure his son is one of the frontrunners for 2016.

More evidence Ron Paul's focus is on helping Rand's campaign

And I suppose you have never mocked big-L Libertarian candidates or Ron Paul's 2008 campaign due to their lack of viability. If the Pauls are presented with opportunities to form alliances with less than palatable Republican leaders due to accidents of geography and personality, respectively, why should they reject such opportunities to influence the Overton window out of a quixotic devotion to "principle"? If anything, Ron Paul should have endorsed Romney after it became clear that Obama was making the election a referendum on Romney's private sector background rather than foreign policy, civil liberties, and crony capitalism (issues where Paul and Romney would have had substantive differences.) While that too may have been a strategic move to prevent Rand from losing the 2020 nomination to Paul Ryan, Rand may be hurt more by his father's steadfast fixation on issues that are currently unpalatable to Republican primary voters in an unpackaged form.

I had always assumed that the Rand-Mitch alliance was always going to be a one-sided deal in McConnell's favor. So this actually is kind of interesting to me...

I never have, actually. My huge knock against Ron Paul 2008 is that it was a scam. The Pauls spent most of their donations living richly than actually producing a serious campaign.

For all his theatrics, Ron Paul has never been serious about reforming the party.

This might help Rand Paul raking in money to run 2016.  Any back door deals for Mitch McConnell would have to suck though.  Part of politics.

Rand Paul endorsed Mitch McConnell over TeePee favorite Matt Bevin in the Republican Primary even though many Paul supporters favored Bevin.

Immediately after being re-elected, Mitch announce his support for Rand for President.

Coincidence or quid pro quo?

The answer's pretty obvus to me.

Establishment support like this is actually very important for Rand, this is definitely a good sign for him.

As someone from KY, I have the same feeling.
