New Election: 2014 Tennessee Referendum General Election Results

TN Amendment 1 - the most controversial item on our ballot this year.  There were more votes cast in this race than in the Governor's or US Senate races.  Note the substantial urban v. rural split.  Almost every precinct in Nashville/Davidson Co. went for "no", regardless of partisan characteristics.  Deeply Republican Knox and Hamilton counties joined the more Democratic counties in voting no.

In 2000, in Planned Parenthood v. Sundquist, the TN Supreme Court held that there is a stronger right to abortion in our state constitution than in federal law.  This amendment neutralizes this decision, empowering the legislature to enact legislation that regulates abortion.

Sounds like many votes could be thrown out because they didn't vote in the Governor's race.

Tennessee Consitution states “a majority of all the citizens in the state voting for governor, voting in … favor” of the amendment. If they didn't vote for Governor, their vote should be thrown out.

Tennessee's voters just opened the door for Scott DesJarlais' various patients/mistresses to bring love children into the world doomed to male pattern baldness.

That sounds like it would be worse for the 'no' side as defeating this referendum alone appears to be the sole motivator for a Democrat to vote in Tennessee this year
