Since there are differing opinions on what actually qualifies someone as a "moderate", I thought this would make an interesting thread.

More idiosyncratic than moderate, but I think moderate is a fair description.

I think he could be. On the bread and butter issues he's with the party, but he identifies as 'traditionalist' on cultural issues, IIRC.

WalterMitty is on the far right wing of the Democratic Party on almost (not quite but almost) every issue that actually matters.

Walter's moderate-ness is more mean than median, methinks.  But yea, I guess.

Nathan beat me but I still wanted to say my bit about Walter's interesting stances.  As far as Nathan goes?  No.  He is not moderate.

His PM score is rather moderate, and he has the moderate hero sig. I guess so.

Sort of. I wouldn't really call him a moderate, but he's far from a typical Republican.

I wouldn't call him an extremist, but he's definitely not moderate either.

Not really. He's deeply religious and could be considered "culturally conservative", but on most actual political issues he's in line with his party, and probably even to the left on some.

Farther away from the center than a "moderate", but in a world where there are only two parties, he is to the left of his party's base and thus "moderate".

Not at all-he's pretty much right-wing as you can get without being in the Tea Party.
