Winfield, why do you think Governor Sawx didn't appoint you when the outgoing assemblyman requested for you? Will this be a Hanabusa-Schatz situation?

Well, you know, that's a very good question.

I have felt that throughout my political career in Atlasia that I have proven my worth as a legislator and in fact as a leader. I am ever so much aware as well that voters will not always agree with me, in fact, in some cases,  that is a tremendous understatement.

I believed that I have something to offer to the Northeast Assembly and more importantly to the people of the Northeast, and that I offered some diversity to the Assembly and to the region, and not just more of the same old same old.

As to why Governor Sawx appointed Dallasfan instead of me, Sawx has stated the following

dallasfan is a smidge more similar to rpryor


Referring to Dallasfan, Sawx said

I'm just saying - you're acting like I'm trying to woo a crowd that I've made no secret that I am a part of.


In other words, he appointed one of his own instead of someone else who would show independence.
 
As to any similarities to the Hanabusa-Schatz situation, we can break this down.

The following statements of 7/08/14 from Huff Post is key.

It’s no secret Hanabusa is bitter about Schatz’s appointment to the U.S. Senate, especially when it was Inouye’s dying wish to send her there instead. Inouye’s wish could also be seen as one vote.

Hanabusa said Schatz “convinced” Gov. Neil Abercrombie to appoint him to the U.S. Senate after Daniel K. Inouye died.

We have to keep in mind, however, that the Governor does have this authority

Anyway, yes, there are some interesting parallels to these two situations, even though separated by sea and by reality.
