http://www.peachpundit.com/2014/11/10/isakson-campaign-schedules-kickoff-event/

... he's running for re-election in 2016. This was posted in the GA mega-thread, but I thought it should be archived in the Congressional Elections board as well.

Likely R. It's a Presidential Year, and while the 2008 South Carolina Primary may have crippled Hillary, that's not going to extend downballot.

That sucks. This could have been interesting in an open seat if Nunn or Barrow ran but it's unlikely to be competitive with Isakson running again.

Well, so much for this race being competitive. Isakson will likely win by an underwhelming margin, but it's very hard to see Barrow/Nunn/Carter actually finding the votes to beat him, especially with GA's runoff system.

If Barrow does run for statewide office, it should either be against Isakson in 2016 or for governor in 2018. After that, I think his time will have passed.

If Barrow lost by 10 in his own (albeit GOP-leaning) district, he's going to have a hard time in GA as a whole.  Granted, he will have a 2016 electorate, but Isakson has incumbency on his side.

I doubt Barrow will run. If he does, though, he would be the best candidate Democrats could offer.

Yeah this seat is off the table unless Jody Hice knocks him out in the primary, which is very doubtful.

Barrow may as well run since he really has nothing to lose.

I still think Democrats should mount a serious challenge here. They may not win (I have the race as "Likely R" myself) but at least they could say they tried.

There were people who expected a Hillary win in SC in 08?

Isakson is very articulate, personable, and a true gentleman. I voted for Nunn, yet have a hard time seeing myself voting against Isakson.

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed should run, but he probably won't.

Reed said no to challenging Isakson back in 2013:

Try Nunn again. She got spanked by Perdue but in a 2016 electorate who knows.
