The US-side of the deal appears to be just an adjustment to account for the most recent data for CAFE and the natural gas boom. China's commitment appears to be 1000GW of alternative power (probably nuclear), which will only slow the rate of CO2 increase.

If Democrats aren't giving away manufacturing jobs to clean up the US economy, I suppose we can count this as a win.

I'm extremely skeptical that China will prioritize curtailing emissions ahead of steady GDP growth anytime over the next decade.

Think about how much they have to import to make CO2 emissions; however, they are probably baiting the West into providing technological assistance.
