Kirk is in denial that he will probably join the One Term Midwestern GOPer Club with Abraham and Coleman

No one's buying your false confidence, Kirk. I used to have some respect for the guy, but as of late, I've been liking him less and less.

Has there even been any polling on this race??

A December 2014 poll had Duckworth leading Kirk, 46-45.

Kirk has offered up really cocky responses to each potential challenger he has been asked about.

The only challenger that deserves said cocky response is Joe Walsh.

I want Bustos! She's not from Chicago, so it would be a great plus.

Ditto. I can't help but feel like we need a Senate candidate in Illinois who's not from Chicago, an area which Democrats have a lock on anyway.

FOSTER, not Bustos, is from chicagoland suburbia, not the city itself, and considering a run. Bustos says she wants to stay in the House.

Yes, everyone knows he's not from Chicago.

The idea is that a non-chicago candidate is the best bet to defeat Kirk, not that such a candidate has never existed.

(Of course, I'll support Kirk no matter who his opponent is. Getting that out there before anyone speculates otherwise.)

1) Strong political network b/c of her father

2) Despite this, not seen as political insider

3) Not from Chicago

4) Moderate but not too moderate

5) Appeals to blue collar downstaters

Mike Frerichs, Tom Dart, and Mike Quigley all seem much better imo, but fair enough.

4 is a positive point? I'm a tad confused why we need a moderate for deep blue Illinois, but a Vermont socialist is fine for nationwide.

4 is the reason I am so lukewarm on the idea of Bustos running.

Kirk is exactly the sort of centrist, compromise-building politician that Washington needs more of. All his potential opponents, except for MAYBE Bustos, would only contribute to Washington gridlock.

Ignoring the debate over whether "compromise-buildung" is desirable to begin with, would you perhaps elaborate on what exactly Kirk does to promote this? What part of his performance makes him "centrist"?

I can't realistically support someone who, 90%+ of the time, votes with Ted Cruz and Mitch McConnell.

Of course, the gridlocked nature of Washington artificially deflates everyone's ability to appear as a centrist, but here's a few examples where Kirk has shown he's not a hard core partisan and is willing to work across the aisle in the senate:
