I highly doubt Madigan runs.

I think Bustos would be the strongest candidate, for reasons Mr. Illini provided.

Interestingly, I learned in a RollCall article that Cheri Bustos babysat Durbin's kids as a teenager.

On the note of Madigan, she is probably not going to run until her father retires from his position as Speaker. Though she probably prefers to be Governor and stay in Illinois.

Has there even been any polling on this race??

A December 2014 poll had Duckworth leading Kirk, 46-45.

Maybe Bustos will end up replacing Durbin? I recall reading she once babysat his kids as a teenager, so she's personally close to him, and Durbin will probably want to be replaced by someone from downstate Illinois. I don't see Bustos as the executive type.

My guess is Bustos is holding out until 2020, if Durbin retires (as I think he will).

Dick move, Durbin. I thought he and Kirk were pals

Did you really think he'd endorse a Rpeublican?

...

No, but you'd think that he'd at least stay neutral

Why would he do that? He's the Senate Minority Whip. He wants a bigger caucus.

While Kirk and him might have a good working relationship, I'm sure Durbin would prefer to work with Tammy Duckworth.
