Weicker was elected in 1970. It's really ironic to compare the 1970 and 2006 elections

Damn. I made up a list of incumbents I remember losing adn then pruned for one termers. Somehow Lowell slipped by.

Weicker was elected in 1970. It's really ironic to compare the 1970 and 2006 elections

1970:
Pro-war "Democrat" running as an independent is future Senator Chris Dodd's dad
Future Senator Lieberman supports the anti-war Democrat
And the Republican, Weicker wins

2006:
Pro war "Democrat" running as an independent is Lieberman
The anti-war Democrat is supported by Weicker and Chris Dodd

In 1988, the GOP decided they'd rather have someone more conservative as Senator, even if it was a "Democrat", so they supported Lieberman over Weicker.

Didn't Weicker vote with the GOP on fiscal issues? He probably didn't support the party line on social issues but was the GOP even that conservative on social issues as they are now back in the 1980's?

BTW, Are Scott Brown(R-MA) and Harris Woford(D-PA) even to be considered to be one termers considering they served out just the last 2 years of a Senate term?

They both one specials to get in office though.

I doubt Weicker was very favorable to Reagonomics so the short answer is no.
