2000:
Spencer Abraham
John Ashcroft
Rod Grams

1998:
Lauch Faircloth
Carol Mosley Broun

1994
Harris Wofford

1992
Terry Sanford
Wyche Fowler?
The guy Russ Feingold defeated

1988
Lowell Weicker

Weicker was elected in 1970. It's really ironic to compare the 1970 and 2006 elections

1970:
Pro-war "Democrat" running as an independent is future Senator Chris Dodd's dad
Future Senator Lieberman supports the anti-war Democrat
And the Republican, Weicker wins

2006:
Pro war "Democrat" running as an independent is Lieberman
The anti-war Democrat is supported by Weicker and Chris Dodd

In 1988, the GOP decided they'd rather have someone more conservative as Senator, even if it was a "Democrat", so they supported Lieberman over Weicker.

Didn't Weicker vote with the GOP on fiscal issues? He probably didn't support the party line on social issues but was the GOP even that conservative on social issues as they are now back in the 1980's?

BTW, Are Scott Brown(R-MA) and Harris Woford(D-PA) even to be considered to be one termers considering they served out just the last 2 years of a Senate term?

1986:

Jeremiah Denton (R-AL)
Paula Hawkins (R-FL)
Mack Mattingly (R-GA)
Jim Broyhill (R-NC) - appointed to fill out the remainder of first-term Senator John P. East's term
Mark Andrews (R-ND)
James Abdnor (R-SD)
Slade Gorton (R-WA)

Denton(R-AL) was defeated by Richard Shelby who 8 years later would become a Republican.

Andrews(R-ND) was actually pretty popular being the States Congressmen in the US House for many years before serving his lone US Senate term. He was defeated by a little know state auditor named Kent Conrad!

James Abnor(R-SD) was defeated by furture US Senate Dem Leader Tom Daschle who was defeated by former Abnor staffter John Thune in 2004.
