My fellow Lancancastrians and I felt the sting of winter today.  The weather channel had predicted a lowish chance this morning, and mostly sunny, so I went out with no overcoat.  Only a rather professorial corduroy jacket with leather patches on the sleeves, as is my custom during the fall, covered my torso.  The driving in was uneventful, if cloudy, and I had assumed that it would burn off by noon, but by the time I stepped outside Caputo Hall to attend a committee meeting (in a rather impressive boardroom that I'd never been in before, with stained glass windows and century-old wooden tables) across campus at 3PM, big fat wet snowflakes, mixed with tiny pieces of ice, were falling.  By the time I drove home at 5ish, it had turned to snowflake proper.  It was still snowing at 6:15 when I went to the gym, but at 7PM as I walked out of the gym after a refreshing swim it was diminishing.  It just stopped, and there's maybe only a half an inch on the ground--nothing to impress our Midwestern or Austrian posters, mind you, but worth a mention.

Have you had your first snowfall of the season yet?

A little bit to the east in Burlington County, NJ... none of the white stuff to speak of.  Just some cold, cold rain.

No snow here today, tho we did have some back on the 1st that didn't last very long on the ground, but it did actually fall and briefly stick.  Local joke was that it was because of all the little girls in Elsa costumes who went trick or treating the night before.

It's allegedly snowing right now, but I'm too lazy to get out of bed and check.

A little fell a couple days ago.  It's 12 degrees here right now, but it's mostly dry.

We had snow on Halloween, but it was so light you could hardly see it on the ground.  Same thing happened again today.

We did get a tiny trace over last night. I don't think it counts though.

Yep, first snowfall (I live about 20 minutes away from angus) today, even if it didn't stick to the ground at all.

Yep, first snowfall (I live about 20 minutes away from angus) today, even if it didn't stick to the ground at all.

It's sticking in Manheim Township.  Not much, maybe half an inch, but it has covered all the grass and leaves.  I expect it'll be there all night.  The asphalt is bare, though.  (Thankfully.)

Hopefully, the boy's school won't cancel.  They're wimps.  They cancel easily.  Last year, with the harsh winter we had, he was in school till June 15!  What a rude awakening to find that on June 1 you still have two weeks of school left.  Being as it is that I live vicariously through him, I felt the pain acutely.

Horrible news. Here in KC it's been consistently below 0 celsius since Monday (when it was 70 Fahrenheit). Ugh #Midwestweather

It's like 90 degrees today where I live Tongue (which is because I live in the Southern Hemisphere, granted)

In any case the maximums rarely gets colder than say 50F (around 15C?) where I live....and it doesn't get colder than 10C when most people are still outside.

3" of dry, powdery snow on the ground here and currently a frigid 6F.  You know its cold when the sky is clear with very light snow falling.
