Feingold's a bit of a paper tiger, but the claim that any other democrat would've held that seat in 2010 against Ron Johnson is stupid. Johnson is a great campaigner, and certainly would've taken Ron Kind to the woodshed. It may too big of a hurdle for Johnson to handle this time around, but we'll see.

Honestly I like Marc Pocan the most out of all them. Ron Kind is exactly the kind of bland, nothing-too-daring, "I'm a moderate!" candidate that Democrats need to get away from.

I'd also throw Senate Minorty Leader Jennifer Shilling in as a possibility.

I voted for Pocan.  He seems to be more energetic than the other ones which is important in a presidential election year.

I would say Feingold, but he ought to run against Clinton instead.

I don't know how strong a candidate Pocan is but I am skeptical that Wisconsin will elect two gay liberals from Madison in a row. Let's hope I am horribly wrong.

I doubt any Wisconsin voter will say "I was okay with one gay Senator, BUT TWO IS TOO MANY." Everyone that was willing to vote for Baldwin would probably be willing to vote for Pocan.

I worry Feingold will make the same stupid mistake he did in 2010 and not allow outside money to be spent on his behalf. I don't think he's suited for the Citizens United era.

Yeah, Feingold's campaign was a disaster. Before he even thinks about running again, Dems need to make sure he'll be willing to accept outside money. Can't unilaterally disarm.

Yeah people way underestimate Johnson on these threads like he is a Generic R or something. He is a tough campaigner.

I think the Dems should run Ron Kind.

as I've said. Kind has a better shot of being someone who could hold the seat longer. He's a decade younger than Feingold and has a better chance of being a Herb Kohl like figure who can always win easily (he won 58% in 1994)

Russ Feingold if he's eager for a rematch.  If he flinches yet again, then Ron Kind should be given a chance.

Liberal … yes.

Madison … doesn't matter.

Can't we find some progressive labor guy from those counties up north that always vote >60% Democrat?

Elections do not require a winning candidate 100 percent of the votes cast.

"Madison" liberal reminds me of the "San Francisco" liberal attack line hurled at Baldwin.

It matters to the people up north that make up the scant swing voters left in this state after the last couple cycles.

Wasn't Feingold himself basically from Madison? Or has the state moved so far to the right now that simply being from Madison will kill you?

I think someone who can run a better campaign than Feingold should run. Ron Kind would be able to run up score in his district, which is an area that Democrats need in order to win statewide.

I'm a Republican, so I want Gwen Moore to run since she will lose.
