A bigoted and mostly incompetent Prime Minister who's eroded everything liberal about the Liberal Party and who I believe will make terrible damage to the Australian centre-right for a generation.

Tony Abbot is the perfect opposition leader. He's ruthless, opportunistic, and wickedly effective at breaking down and tearing apart his opponents, but terrible at filling the shoes of national leader once he's successfully terminated them.
By liberal, they mean classically liberal.
Abbott isn't really a classical liberal either.

Yes... I know. I'm European, so that is always what I mean when I use the word liberal.

So allow me to clarify, Tony Abbott has eroded everything classically liberal about the Liberal party, it now acts as a reactionary Conservative party. There's very little of a night-watchman state in what he's trying to create.

My fiancee lived just a few streets away from him when we first met (She lives in Brisbane now). In fact, her mother was involved in a bike group with Abbott's wife and absolutely could not stand her.

Laura once described Abbott as "psychotic". Now, she's not someone who is even interested in politics at all on any level, but based on everything I've heard, I'll take her word for it. HP.

Dur, I'm used to having to correct people everytime I explain Aussie politics to my friends.

I effectively equated him to Rick Perry. He's a dingus, but he can't do enough damage to really screw anything up.
