I keep hearing about how the hard left controls the Democratic party. I'd assume that means they control the Senate Minority leader.

To the question on the poll, no. To the last question in your post, they do control him.  Pro-abortion dollars run the Democratic Party, radical pro-enviroment dollars run the Democratin Party, and radical feminist and gay dollars control the Democratic Party.  Not something to be ashamed of, just the facts.

To the poll: no.

Harry Reid may not be far-left, but Howard Dean and Nancy Pelosi are.  That's two out of three party leaders.

He doesn't have to be hard left, the leftists control the party.  Harry Reid would lose his leadership position if he spoke out against the leftists.

But he's allowed to vote against the hard left? How does that work? Why haven't they scrapped him yet?

What votes.  When has he voted against the rest of the party on a significant issue since becoming leader?

He's only been leader for 3 months, but he voted for Condi Rice the bankruptcy bill, and probably some other stuff.

Condi Rice was backed by a majority of Democrats. 33-12

The Bankruptcy Bill was opposed by Democrats narrowly, and Reid joined 18 others in opposing the 25 extremists.

Most Democrats still voted against the Bankruptcy bill. Hillary Clinton would have been a 26th no, but Bill was getting surgery, so she wasn't there.

Reid is a solid leftist. Hard left? Not sure what that means, but I guess not.

Philip and Opebo seem to have the same objective relativism fallacy thing going on here.

Not now, but he is dancing a line between his views and the views of the party platform.  He is trying to satisfy his own constituents, his personal views and what the party faithful want.

Is Frist far right?  Of course not, which is why he has little support from the conservative wing of the party.  Does this change your opinion of whether the far right controls the Republican party?

Reid isn't hard left, but this doesn't change the fact that New Democrat/Clintonites are playing second fiddle to the leftists in the party right now.

Since when isn't Frist far right? The guy is talking about how the fact that like 4% of Bush's nominees have been blocked is an attack on people of faith. He's a true wingnut.

He is pretty far left on most issues, except abortion.

What a great man. He's too left on economics for me, but certainly far better than any other possible leader.
