I am absolutely infuriated with Connecticut. I have narrowed down where I want to live when I am fully on my own to a few places, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. I can't make my mind up, so I want your input. I am thinking of things like taxes, weather (love snow), overall cost of living, government involvement, etc.

Wouldn't it be better to move to a state with higher job creation rates?

Looks like Governor Malloy is already using his re-election mandate to purge the conservatives from his state! Wonderful news!

Citizens living overseas can still vote.

In any case, voted for New Hampshire in this poll because, as a political junkie, you want to be in the thick of presidential primary season.

How about North Dakota?  There's plenty of jobs (including well-paying ones), particularly in the oil/natural gas sector, and isn't as far from home as, say, Alaska.

And that's how you decided to boot out Virginia Tongue?

Tornadoes don't really climb mountains, which is where I was gonna suggest next. It's the Appalachia area  that gets all the snow, where the government is at a comical low, and there's plenty of history to be had as well.

Taxes in the state are "reasonable" too.

Worth another look.

My aunt and uncle lived in Stafford, VA for almost 40 years... Never mentioned Tornadoes...

But if you like the cold, rolling landscape, plenty of jobs and low taxes, I would suggest Pittsburgh. However, being as you're a Republican, I don't want you to move here, so please don't consider us. Tongue

Out of the three you've chosen I think New Hampshire would be the best for you (since you seem to be a political junkie), however you should look at places like North Dakota, Montana, Idaho, etc.

I recommend heading to Switzerland. Cold weather, tax haven, and a thriving legal prostitution industry that should enable you to avoid having to deal with stuck-up cheerleaders to get laid.

Out of those three options I would pick Alaska just for the experience.

I don't know why the f*** you'd want to move to Maine. No offense to people who live there though...

New Hampshire is a good choice.
