Of course he was. For the 1996 campaign, his top adviser was Dick Morris. Dick Morris convinced him that he had to go total triangulating 3rd-way way to win. Dick Morris. Because Dick Morris is always right. Arkansas voted for Obama, right?

No (voted 'yes' by accident). There's no one in the country who puts forth the Democratic argument better than him. I'm convinced a huge part of Obama's massive convention bounce in early September 2012 was due to this speech.

He was an awful President in every sense of the word. Had it not been for the economic upswing that happened during his Presidency (which he had nothing to do with), he would likely be as unpopular in the public imagination as is Obama now.

Yes, like Eisenhower he was mostly lucky enough to preside over an era of economic growth.

Of course not. Imagine, a president who forges bipartisan relationships in Washington and gets things done... wow!

...and didn't said hallowed 'bipartisanship' ultimately end in Clinton being impeached or are my memories of the late 90s faulty?

But seriously. I remember the 1990s. There was no 'bipartisanship' - Republicans were every bit as hysterical about Clinton as they are now about Obama (although there was a creative edge to their frothing paranoid gibberish back then that is lacking at present, alas). What Clinton did was -after the 1994 debacle - to cave in to the Republican agenda on pretty much every aspect of domestic policy. And they still hated him...

I am sure even he thinks that, especially after Arkansas essentially turned its back on him....

Of course, and most former Presidents get a poll boost the longer they've been out, so it's not unusual.

Proof that good politics =/= good policy. Not that anyone cares about the difference.

He is a bit overrated, but still a great POTUS overall.
