Mod GOP Hold. Might move to lean if Sestak runs (or Rendell?).
Sestak has already declared his candidacy.

Is Schwartz interested in this seat?

Schwartz could not win a primary against Sestak.

Things could never be so great as for us to be able to go in with Toomey versus Schwartz. A dream of Keystone Phil's if I am not mistaken by the way.

I agree with you. I don't think she could win a primary versus Sestak. I was just throwing out other names.

The problem is her base is split. She would win Phill and Montco, but Sestak takes Delco and Chester, and the rest of the state would overwhelming back the Admiral over Schwartz.

On the flip side in the General, Schwartz would ensure almost no risk at all of losing votes out west, in NE or SW PA and even some potential for gain for Toomey (like Erie which likes moderate Republicans and Toomey's bipartisan work could change minds versus 2010). The entire race would come down to Lehigh Valley (where Toomey is based out of it) and Bucks where the GOP has been improving over the last several elections (from matching the state to about four points more Republican than the state).

I think the field will be cleared for Sestak, PA Dems probably feel he has a right to a rematch because of his narrow loss in a year like 2010.

I don't know why people think that voters statewide here would elect Rendell to anything. He's not well liked.

Schwartz may be interested. Smiley

And, guys, stop suggesting Rendell. It isn't happening.

Didn't Rendell end up pretty unpopular too? I mean, it could've changed since then, but there's a reason besides the 2010 wave that Corbett won.

Yeah, he left office fairly unpopular but that's just one of several reasons why he's definitely, 110% not running.

Yeah, people seem to forget he left office with bad approval ratings. Schwartz's time has passed. Sestak will be the nominee.

If we're just throwing names out, could Matt Cartwright be worth mentioning? He seems like the best option out of the current congressmen.

I could definitely see him as being a potent challenger to Toomey, but I'm not sure he does run.

He has been rumored as well.

A potent challenge though? Uh...

I think the field will be clear for Sestak, people keep mentioning other names but I don't foresee a primary at this point. Sestak has proved himself as a decent candidate and has earned a right to a rematch.

Roll Call says a few names have declined, among them Matt Cartwright, Allyson Schwartz, and presumably Kathleen McGinty).

It's looking like Sestak, Kane, Shapiro, or bust.

This weekend is the annual PA Society in NYC. Kane has reportedly stated that she is "definitely" running for a second term as Attorney General - http://www.politicspa.com/dispatches-from-pa-society-2/62425/

Yeah, and I'm glad. She needs to focus on keeping that job.

I think she'll be able to, it won't be an easy fight, though.

Add this to the "Kane is one of the worst elected officials in PA" file - http://mobile.philly.com/news/?wss=/philly/hp/news_update/&id=285720581

She seriously is an unmitigated disaster.

Do we know who will even be running against Kane in 2016?

I honestly doubt Kane can win another term as AG, she won in 2012 in a perfect storm of the fallout from Corbett's handling of the Sandusky case and her hubby's money that bankrolled her primary campaign

On the GOP side? Possibly Montco DA Risa Ferman. That would be an excellent race. But Kane is almost certainly being primaried by Philly DA (and frequent critic) Seth Williams.
