While I would much prefer the weather in Iowa; I will always choose a rural, suburban or exurban area over a city. Forsyth County it is.

You know, despite its reputation, Iowa is actually a pretty "sinful" state.

-Some of the laxest alcohol laws in the country. Doesn't get much attention primarily because the state with the country's laxest overall is right to its south.
-Hordes of casinos and gambling. Wouldn't surprise me if its after Nevada as having the second highest number of casinos per capita. In fact literally the first thing you see after crossing the border from Minnesota on I-35W is a casino. Plus you can play slots in gas stations.
-Strip clubs aplenty. Des Moines has almost as many as Minneapolis, as the other cities aren't too off either.

I mean hell Iowa is far more lax on all those things than Minnesota, Wisconsin or Illinois, yet for some reason is commonly thought of as more "moral" than all those neighboring states.

I used to live in an 85% Obama precinct in Iowa. It was a nice place. A lot of good, hemp growing people lived there.

Forsyth County, GA, though it is close because Georgia's weather in the summer is garbage and there seems to be racial problems in that county.

I'd rather take the >85% Obama precinct I currently live in in Wisconsin, but I suppose Iowa if I had to choose.

Des Moines:

Hell on Earth aka Forsyth, GA

Well done poll, BRTD.  Things like this should be pointed out to our esteemed collection of young, dumb suburban white teenagers.  Forsyth is a horror.

HockeyDude, can you please tell me why there are no lawns in that subdivision? It's horrifying.

I have absolutely no clue.

Like what? And it better not be something that happened 20+ years ago.

20 years ago isn't that long ago. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of that sentiment still existed, which I wouldn't be able to coexist with.

The other pictures of the suburbs didn't change my mind, considering I have lived in a suburb my whole life, except it is odd to see that subdivision have no grass, looks disgusting.

It was especially ironic when Rick Santorum campaigned there in 2012

Forsyth (lower cost-of-living, warm, and good schools)

Forsyth, as I'm likely rich in such a scenario.

Indeed.  The average Forsyth resident has a much higher quality-of-life than the average DeMoineser in the heavily minority precinct.  Add in high educational attainment + a low cost of living, and you have a very nice place to be.

Huh? We're comparing a non-gentrifying part of a working class mid-sized Midwestern city versus a sprawly fast growing mess housing the bourgeoisie of a major metropolitan area.

Also Iowa is consistently ranked as having one of the best education systems in the country. It has the third highest high school graduation rate of all states.

I would probably pick any voting precinct in Iowa over Forsyth County.

A better measure would be showing both places at the same time of day. Showing one at night vs. the other in the afternoon is going to invoke biases other than the simple choice between the specific locations.
