She supports impeaching Obama for executive overreach (so brave). She supports overthrowing the elected United States government with her guns if they don't do what she wants (omg EVEN BRAVER). She's also one of those far right wingers that will ensure a proteteriat revolution with her overreach. What's not to like?

Yes, because she heightens the contradictions.

Hopefully not.

I'm trying to stay optimistic, but I can easily see Ernst being the next Ted Cruz. If only Braley had campaigned correctly...

Only in a very bizarre "enemy of my enemy is my friend" fashion, and even then I'm reaching.

No one who considers themselves to be remotely on the left should like her. I'm completely disgusted that someone like her was elected in a state like Iowa. I'd take Sarah Palin over her in a heartbeat.

What if she can stay out of trouble and can twist that median voter's arm every time?

She probably can, she's a very good campaigner.

I love her because I believe she is going to fill Michelle Bachmann's vital role in making me laugh and simultaneously embarrassing her party.

What if she can stay out of trouble and can twist that median voter's arm every time?

She probably can, she's a very good campaigner.

It's the line of crap I got used to between 2003 and 2006, "I don't believe in what X says or does most of the time but he's kind of a badass.  it. I'm voting for him!" I think my mother-in-law said that about Bush and she was and still probably is active in Planned Parenthood.

I love her because I believe she is going to fill Michelle Bachmann's vital role in making me laugh and simultaneously embarrassing her party.

...and then by 2006 the constant demonization of those who talk out of their ass finally began to have an effect. When talking about the ability for Republicans to be "The Party" with my Republican Professor, Dr. King (who is kind of Dick Morris-esque), he said in the summer of 2005 that Republicans are heading towards a six-year itch and will lose some seats but that they have a broad coalition and that they should be able to hold on to power. By the next summer, he said that a lot of these Republican incumbents are just too conservative to be reelected.

So, eventually this kind of calling them out for having no respect for first-world democracy starts out by being shrugged off by average voters as "she was probably just having a bad day" but eventually becomes "I think she's a bit too conservative and maybe I'll give a Democrat a chance, whether they are kind just a kinder gentler version of her or are very liberal".

I thought that "castrating hogs" ad of hers was a left-wing-made parody at first. In most countries opening an ad like that would cost you an election, not win you one.

It seems that every country is declining in its own little way nowadays.

It's not something that works nationwide, but in a farm state where your opponent is doing absolutely nothing to cater to farmers, it works just fine.

Why would a true leftist like Joni Ernst?  That doesn't even make sense.  Am I missing something here?

Most of them probably have a love-hate relationship with Joni Ernst.  On one hand, they can't stand her policies, but on the other, they're happy to have her in the Senate so she can keep making my party look like a bunch of far-right clowns.

As a Republican, I'm a little worried about her for much the same reason.
